The Discipline of Authentic Movement offerings
For over twenty years, I have been practicing and teaching the Discipline of Authentic Movement in the lineage of Janet Adler. Today my work has evolved into several ongoing communities of practice that support people at different stages of life and professional development.
Some participants are therapists integrating the discipline with Internal Family Systems (IFS). Others come because they long for a contemplative practice that helps them meet grief, parenting, illness, transition, relationship challenges, creativity, aging and the ordinary mysteries of being human.
Whether someone hopes eventually to become a witness within the discipline or simply seeks a place where they can move, be seen, and deepen their relationship with themselves, each group shares the same intention: to cultivate compassionate presence through movement, witnessing, silence and spoken reflection.
The Discipline of Authentic Movement for psychotherapists
Professional Practice Group: A monthly group for psychotherapists integrating the Discipline of Authentic Movement with IFS and clinical work. We explore personal experience while considering how embodied awareness informs therapeutic presence.
Individual consultations: One-on-one sessions for psychotherapists integrating the Discipline of Authentic Movement and IFS into their practice. In solo consultations, we delve deeper into cultivating your self-awareness and witness consciousness.
The Discipline of Authentic Movement for spiritual practice and embodied community
In-person monthly Discipline of Authentic Movement communities: I currently host several ongoing in-person groups providing a steady contemplative practice where participants deepen their relationship with movement, silence, witnessing and community. Some are developing as witnesses within the Discipline; others simply seek a consistent place for personal practice.
Virtual monthly Discipline of Authentic Movement communities: A monthly online gathering that welcomes participants from around the world. Some are interested in Adler’s lineage as preparation for future teaching or supervision, while many participate as a spiritual and personal practice.
Discipline of Authentic Movement Triads for deep practice: Small online trios offer an intimate setting to practice the three roles of mover, silent witness and speaking witness. Some groups emphasize mentorship and supervision; others focus primarily on personal transformation.
Quarterly workshops & biannual retreats: One or two-day workshops or long weekend retreats for expansive Discipline of Authentic Movement practice. Refer to the events calendar for the latest on upcoming workshops and retreats.
